I am currently trying to remodel my bathroom. Currently my bathroom is all original from when I bought the house fifteen years ago. It looks very out of date and has needed to be updated for a very long time. I have finally saved enough money and want to go all out on my bathroom. I plan on redoing everything including the cabinets and even the shower and tub. The only problem is that I have no idea where to start. It seems like every time I go into a store that has everything I need I get very overwhelmed and leave with nothing. I was wondering if you had any tricks on how to get started without feeling overwhelmed or maybe you could give me some advice on where to start. Thank you so much for all of your help.

Dear Overwhelmed Shopper,

Remodeling your bathroom can be a very exciting and overwhelming project all at the same time. While yes it is exciting to get new things, it is overwhelming when you realize how many little things you need to pick out. Today it is even more difficult because there are so many styles of bath tubs, showers, sinks, fixtures, and even toilets! There are a few ways to make this entire process easier on you.

If you are planning on remodeling your entire bathroom then it is a good idea to start from the bottom up. If you plan on redoing the flooring then you should of course start with this. You should then move onto the cabinets. You can pick out whether you want small tile, large tile, ceramic tile, or just some linoleum. Once you have picked this all out you can start to look at your cabinets. You will want the cabinets to match the flooring, but not exactly. You should find a color that is similar but slightly darker or lighter so that it does not look like an all white room for instance. Once this is done, you can then move onto the walls. Do you plan on painting them or installing wallpaper? You will want to find another complimentary color. A great way to go is all shades of beige and white. It makes everything look large and clean.

Once you have found the basic things you can move onto the tub, shower, toilet, and sinks. The best way to start your search is deciding your price range. Once you know the price range you want to stay in it will automatically cut down on the amount of options you have. You should also think about the style you are going after. Are you trying to have a more modern feel? Or maybe you want only colored toilets and sinks. These are all things to think about because they will instantly cut down your options.

We hope that this has helped and that you no longer feel quite so overwhelmed. If you have any more questions or would like some further help on picking out plumbing services or brands please feel free to contact us.
